The Pervo Paint Company, Since 1929.
Founded by Herman Van Dulst and his son in law, Henry DeRuiter, The Pervo Paint Company has had a vibrant history painted with quality and tradition. Upon emigrating from the country of Holland to Michigan, Henry married Herman’s daughter Dorothy. Together they embarked upon a great adventure, moving west to California with dreams of launching a quality paint company. Herman had brought a special formula for manufacturing Paint from his homeland and together their families launched The Pervo Paint Company.
"Pervo", meaning impervious in the Dutch language, was the ideal quality necessary in a top quality paint brand. Thus, it was decided, Pervo would be the company name. Their original logo still stands today, consisting of two lions holding a shield emblazoned with a P, borrowed from an old Dutch coin.
Their first plant was located at VanNess and Slauson in Los Angeles, where they mixed paint in surplus bakery mixing equipment purchased from Hostess bakery. Their company philosophy and their first line of paint was "Good Neighbor Paint... it wears like old friends". Old Friends we still are, since 1929 providing quality paints and family style service. Now with two manufacturing plants and 3 company stores we continue on the cutting edge in paint, thermoplastic and durable coatings technology. We are still a family owned and run company. With Pervo you are not just a customer you are a part of our family!
